REVUE NÉO-SCOLASTIQUE. - Quarterly review founded at Louvain in 1894 by the future Cardinal Désiré Mercier and published by the "Philosophical Society of Louvain" as the organ of the "School of Philosophy" established at that University at the request of Leo XIII.
The review concerns itself with the various special branches of philosophical teaching, as well as with the physical, biological, political, and social sciences, paying attention to the syntheses they prepare and approaching them in light of traditional doctrines. It therefore aims to be an organ of research and discussion, of documentation and criticism; and also of information, collecting in its chronicles the news of interest to its field and providing a dense bibliographic repertory of all philosophical literature.
Concluding, with the issue of Aug. 1940–Aug. 1945, Vol. XXXIII and fifty years of existence, it continued from 1946 under the new title Revue philosophique de Louvain.
