REVUE NÉO-SCOLASTIQUE. – A quarterly journal, founded in Louvain in 1894 by the future Cardinal Desiré Mercier and published by the “Louvain Philosophical Society” as the organ of the “School of Philosophy” established at that University at the desire of Leo XIII.
The journal concerns itself with the various special branches of philosophical instruction, as well as with the physical, biological, political, and social sciences, attending to the syntheses they prepare and relating them to traditional doctrines. It therefore seeks to be an organ of research and discussion, documentation and criticism; and also of information, gathering in its chronicles news concerning its field and providing a substantial bibliographical repertory of the entire philosophical literature.
With the August 1940–August 1945 issue, which concluded vol. XXXIII and its fifty years of existence, it continued from 1946 under the new title Revue philosophique de Louvain.
