RUBEUS (DE RUBEIS), PAULUS. - Roman jurist of the 17th century (d. between 1673 and 1676), son of the celebrated jurist Teodosio of Priverno.
He published several collections of decisions of the S. Romana Rota: S. Rotae Romanae decisiones selectae ab a. 1618 usque ad a. 1626; Decisiones novissimae ab a. 1626 usque ad a. 1630 (2nd ed., Rome 1642); Decisiones diversorum auditorum ab a. 1631 usque ad a. 1634 (ibid. 1640); and he continued the collection begun by Prospero Farinaccio from vol. V to vol. XVIII (decisions from the year 1618 to the year 1666): S. Rotae Romanae decisiones recentiores, etc. (ibid. 1645, Venice 1716). From Pope Urbano VIII he obtained the privilege of exclusive publication of the rota decisions for twenty years and in all places (letter of 25 July 1641). He also wrote: Resolutiones practicabiles circa testamente (Rome 1654); De validitate legali controversiae forenses (ibid. 1664). He should not be confused with his namesake, auditor of the Rota from Canino (Viterbo), d. 8 May 1512.
