RUBEUS (DE RUBEIS), PAULUS. - Roman jurist of the 17th century (d. between 1673 and 1676), son of the famous jurist Teodosio of Priverno.
He published various collections of decisions of the S. Romana Rota: S. Rotae Romanae decisiones selectae ab a. 1618 usque ad a. 1626; Decisiones novissimae ab a. 1626 usque ad a. 1630 (2nd ed. Rome 1642); Decisiones diversorum auditorum ab a. 1631 usque ad a. 1634 (ibid. 1640); and he continued the collection begun by Prospero Farinaccio from vol. V to vol. XVIII (decisions from the year 1618 to the year 1666): S. Rotae Romanae decisiones recentiores, etc. (ibid. 1645, Venice 1716). He obtained from Pope Urban VIII the privilege of the exclusive publication of the rotal decisions for a period of twenty years and for all places (letter of 25 July 1641). He also wrote: Resolutiones practicabiles circa testamente (Rome 1654); De validitate legali controversiae forenses (ibid. 1664). He is not to be confused with the namesake auditor of the Rota of Canino (Viterbo), who died on 8 May 1512.
