“SEDIBUS CAELI NITIDIS RECEPTOS.” – Hymn of the Vespers in the Office of SS. Cyril and Methodius, whose feast Leo XIII made obligatory for the Universal Church on 30 September 1880.
The hymn was composed by the learned Father Leonetti, with the addition of a stanza by Salvati, secretary of the Sacred Congregation of Rites; the whole was revised by Tripepi and Caprara.
After an invitation to the celebration of the feast of the two saintly brothers, pillars of the Slav Church, the poet extols their deeds in the evangelisation of the Bulgarians, Moravians, and Bohemians, and with the utmost delicacy makes an appeal for the union of East and West.
