VALERIANO di CEMELE. – Bishop of Cimiez, near Nice. He took part in the Councils of Riez (439) and Vaison (452) and defended, against Pope Leo I, the primacy of Arles.
He published a collection of 20 homilies, which in their form reveal the training provided by the rhetorical schools in Gaul and which, in their theology of Grace, show him to have been a disciple of Faustus of Riez. He also wrote an Epistola od monachos. He died around 460.
