ACCIAPACCIO, NICCOLÒ. — Cardinal, born in Sorrento, died in Rome on 3 April 1447. He was an adviser to Giovanna II of Naples. On 17 September 1410 he was elected bishop of Tropea by Gregorio XII; on 24 December 1436, under Eugenio IV, he became archbishop of Capua, and on 18 December 1439 cardinal of the title of S. Marcello. He supported Renato d'Angiò and, for this reason, for some time the revenues of his church were taken from him and he was also sent into exile. He returned to Rome after the death of Eugenio IV. He was buried in S. Pietro.
