AEZIUS of LYDDA. – He was present at the Council of NICEA in 325 and subscribed to the orthodox faith; but not long before ARIUS had numbered him among his supporters. In 330 he took part in the Arian Council of Antioch, and the historian PHILOSTORGIUS accused him of having joined the party of St ATHANASIUS in the hope of freeing himself from the charge of fornication, adding that he died shortly afterwards by a just judgment.
