ALESSANDRO of Saint Teresa. — Flemish Carmelite (in the 17th century Van den Bergh), born in Brussels in 1639, died in Louvain in 1686. For many years, in the college of the Order in Louvain, he taught with great acclaim philosophy, theology, and Sacred Scripture.
To defend the Catholic faith, he published the works: *Clipeus religionis* (2 vols., Cologne 1679); *Praeco Mariamiss.* (ibid. 1681); *Confutatio justificationis praeves* (Ypres 1683); *Hydra profanarum novitatum*, a description of all heresies with their refutation (Cologne 1684); *Tempestas Novaturientis*, against the errors of Protestants (ibid. 1686), and several others in Flemish.
