ALESSANDRO di SANTA TERESA. – Flemish Carmelite (in the world Van den Berghe), born in 1639 in Brussels, died in Leuven in 1686. For many years, at the college of the Order in Leuven, he taught philosophy, theology, and Sacred Scripture with great acclaim.
For the defense of the Catholic faith, he published the works: Clypeus religionis (2 vols., Cologne 1679); Praeco Marianus... (there 1681); Confutatio justificationis praxeus (Ypres 1683); Hydra profanarum novitatum, a description of all the heresies, with their refutation (Cologne 1684); Tempestas Novaturiensis, against the errors of the Protestants (there 1686), and several others in Flemish.
