VINCENZO AMBROSIANI. — Ascetical writer, born at Monacilioni (Campobasso) on 9 Feb. 1839, died there in 1895. He entered the Congregation of the Mission in Naples in 1855. After ordination to the priesthood (1862), he was sent to France, where he taught in the seminaries of Albi (1862–68), La Rochelle (1869), and Carcassonne (1870). In 1871 he returned to Italy to the seminary of Aquino; he was later rector of that of Larino.
He left notable writings, including: I seminari clericali e il prossimo Concilio Vaticano (Naples 1869); Explication d'un Etendard eucharistique composto da mons. Tommaso Ghislieri, l'archivio del Concilio Vaticano, in the journal Régne de Jésus-Christ (Paray-le-Monial, Jan.–Apr. 1869), translated into Italian under the title Stendardo degli adoratori perpetui del S.M. Sacramento, Mondovì 1886; a short treatise on the Eucharist: Les qualités de l'histoire et leur symbolisme, in Semaine catholique of Carcassonne (1866), later expanded into five conferences under the title: La Communion par excellence, ou les Mystères de l'union de Dieu et de l'homme par la sainte Eucharistie (Tours 1887).
