His fame still endures and is bound up with his writings on early Christian history. The principal works are: *Harmonia Apostolica* (London 1669), in which he sets forth the agreement between the apostles James and Peter on matters of faith and works; *Defensio Fidei Nicenae* (Oxford 1685–88), his masterpiece—republished in Italy with additions and notes by Zola, professor at Pavia (1784)—in which he demonstrates how the Nicene definitions reflected doctrines already professed beforehand; *Judicium Ecclesiae Catholicae trium priorum speculorum* (1694); *Primitiva et Apostolica traditio dogmatis de Jesu Christi divinitate* (1705), besides three volumes of his sermons.
