CONRAD, Saint. - Bishop of Constance. His noble parents entrusted him to the clergy of the cathedral of Constance, and Bishop Noting (920-34) chose him as his collaborator, whom he succeeded in the episcopate in 934. He was united in friendship with St. Ulrich, bishop of Augsburg. Tireless in the apostolic ministry, he built the three most beautiful churches of St. Maurice, St. Paul and St. John. He visited the Holy Land three times and died after 42 years of fruitful episcopate on 26 Nov. 975. He was buried in the church of St. Maurice. Callistus II is said to have canonized him on 28 March 1123 during the Lateran Council, but the source is not certain. His feast is celebrated on 26 Nov.
