DIONYSIUS, RUSTICUS, and ELEUTHERIUS, Saints, Martyrs. — They are commemorated in the Martyrologium Hieronymianum on 9 October. The earliest document concerning the cult of DIONYSIUS is the Life of St Genovefa, in which mention is made of the construction of a basilica over the tomb of DIONYSIUS. The Passio, drawn up towards the end of the 8th century, states that DIONYSIUS was sent by Pope Clement I to Gaul.
