GIAMBONI, BONO. - A Florentine, of the ancient Del Vecchio family, a judge and man of letters of the second half of the 13th century.

He translated into the vernacular, it seems, and with particular artistic merits, the Tesoro of B. Latini, the Arte della guerra of Vegetius, the Storie of P. Orosius, the Formula honestae vitae of Martin of Braga and the De contemptu mundi of Innocent III; and he wrote an Introduzione alla virtù (a vernacular translation for some, an original work for others), an allegorical journey, in which Philosophy is the gate of Faith and this of the Virtues, and Faith and Virtue vanquish the Vices, Idolatry, Judaism, Heresy, Mohammedanism.
