LESÈTRE, HENRI. - Biblical scholar, born in Bourges on 11 February 1848, died in Paris on 26 March 1914. He studied at the Seminary of St-Sulpice, then long exercised the priestly ministry while maintaining an active career as a writer. He collaborated on the DB and on the editions of the Lethielleux or Drach Bibles, for which he composed commentaries on *Job*, the *Proverbs*, *Ecclesiasticus*, the *Wisdom of Solomon*, and the *Psalms*.
Among his other exegetical and apologetic works are: *Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ dans son st Evangile* (Paris 1892); *La Ste Eglise au siècle des Apôtres* (ibid. 1898); *La clef des Evangiles* (ibid. 1902); *Le Temple de Jérusalem* (ibid. 1914). L. also authored various articles, mainly in the *Revue du clergé français* and in the *Revue pratique d'apologétique*.
