LUPUS (De Wulf), Cristiano. - Augustinian theologian and pathologist, b. at Ypres on 12 June 1612, d. at Louvain on 10 July 1681. He taught philosophy at Brussels and Cologne and theology at Douai and Louvain; from 1655 to 1660 and from 1677 to 1679 he resided in Rome, whither he had come to seek the condemnation of the 65 propositions of laxism, which were proscribed by Innocent XI; during the period 1676–80 he was superior of the Cologne province.
The principal aim of his writings was the defence of the Apostolic See: *Synodorum generalium ac provincialium decretales et canones*; *Ad Ephesinum concilium variorum patrum epistolae*; *Divinum ac immobile s. Petri... adversum profanitatis hodie vocum novitates assertum privilegium*; *Dissertationes*, all in *Opera omnia* (12 vols., Venice 1724–29).
