LUPUS (DE WULF), CRISTIANO. - Augustinian theologian and patrologist, b. at Ypern on 12 June 1612, d. at Lovanio on 10 July 1681. He taught philosophy at Bruxelles and Colonia and theology at Douai and Lovanio; from 1655 to 1660 and from 1677 to 1679 he resided in Rome, whither he had come to seek the condemnation of the 65 propositions of laxism, proscribed by Innocenzo XI; during the period 1676-80 he was superior of the Cologne province.
The principal aim of his writings was the defence of the Apostolic See: Synodorum general, ac provincial, decreta et canones; Ad Ephesium concilium variorum patrum epistolae; Divinum ac immobile s. Petri... adversum profanas hodie vocum novitates assertum privilegium; Dissertationes, all in Opera omnia (12 vols., Venezia 1724-29).
