MANCINI, ISIDORO. - Theologian and canonist of the Order of Minims, b. at Paola (Cosenza) in 1712, d. at Rome on 21 April 1756. He taught theology and law for more than fifteen years, first at Naples, then at Rome, in the College of St. Francis of Paola ai Monti, where he was regent of studies. Benedict XIV elected him his "theologian in ordinary," and in 1752 created him prefect of studies at the Urban College of Propaganda Fide, an office he held until his death.

He was a consultor of the Sacred Congregations of Rites, of Indulgences and of Sacred Relics, where his opinion was highly esteemed. Within the Order he was superior and vicar general for Italy. The General Chapter, held at Barcelona in 1752, had entrusted him with the task of the new edition of the Bullarium Ordinis; this, however, like other works that M. was preparing for the press, remained unpublished, because of his premature death.
