MARGARET OF BAVARIA, Blessed. - Duchess of Lorraine, b. in 1373 to Robert III, Count Palatine of the Rhine, later Emperor of Germany (1400), and to Elizabeth of Hohenzollern-Nürnberg, d. at Sierck on 27 Aug. 1434. In 1393 she married Charles II, Duke of Lorraine (d. in 1431), by whom she was neglected and abandoned. In her suffering she sanctified herself under the guidance of Adolf of Essen, prior of the Charterhouse of Marienflos, which she had founded near Sierck.

Phenomena of bilocation are attributed to her, especially during the battle of Champigneulles (1407). Having become a widow, she devoted herself entirely to works of charity. She was buried in the collegiate church of St. George in Nancy. She had been a friend of St. Joan of Arc and of St. Colette, whom she helped to found the Poor Clares of Pont-à-Mousson. Father Rader calls her blessed.
