Doctor in utroque iure, he had a family before becoming an ecclesiastic. As an advocate of the Roman Rota, he took part in the Council of Constance (cf. the Acta of the Council, ed. H. Finke, 4 vols., Münster in V. 1806-1928, V. index under the heading Novaria, Ardecinus de). He was a cleric of the Apostolic Chamber, corrector of apostolic letters, and cardinal with the title of SS. Cosma e Damiano (24 May 1426). He was also advocate of the Kingdom of Naples (v. the diplomas of 1413 and 1416, published by M. Bori, in Boll. stor. bibl. subalpino, 18 [1913], pp. 120-30). His sarcophagus is in the Vatican Grottoes.
