PORTA, ARDICINO I della. — Cardinal, born at Suno (Novara) in an unknown year, died in Rome on 9 April 1434.
A doctor of both laws, he had a family before becoming an ecclesiastic. A consistorial advocate, he took part in that capacity in the Council of Constance (cf. the Acta of the Council, ed. H. Finke, 4 vols., Münster in V. 1896–1928, V. index under the entry Novaria, Ardecinus de). He was a cleric of the Apostolic Camera, a corrector of apostolic letters, and cardinal of the title of SS. Cosma e Damiano (24 May 1426). He was also advocate of the Kingdom of Naples (v. the diplomas of 1413 and 1416, published by M. Bori, in Boll. stor. bibl. subalpino, 18 [1913], pp. 120–30). His sarcophagus is in the Vatican Grottoes.
