GIOVANNI TEBALDINI. — Musician, born in Brescia on 7 September 1864, died in S. Benedetto del Tronto on 12 May 1952.
Having completed his studies abroad as well, he served as maestro and conductor in various cities, including Venice, Padua, Parma, Loreto, Naples, and Genoa. In the musical field, besides composing masses and various sacred music, he transcribed into modern orchestral score the *Rappresentatione di Anima e Corpo* by E. del Cavaliere, as well as *Euridice* by Peri and Caccini. His most fruitful work was directed toward the reform of sacred music, both as a writer and lecturer, researcher and scholar, earning the full approval of Bl. Pius X. His most significant writings include: *La musica sacra in Italia* (1844); *L'Archivio musicale della Cappella Antoniana di Padova* (1895); *L'Archivio musicale della Cappella Lauretana* (1922); *Il canto gregoriano e la musicalità palestriniana*, in the journal *Il pensiero musicale*, 1922-23, and many articles in the *Rivista musicale italiana* and other periodicals.
