TRASEA, SANTO, MARTIRE

The Syriac Breviary and the *Martyrologium Hieronymianum* recall him on 27 October together with Polycarp and Gaius; the Roman Martyrology, however, which drew its information from that of Ado, commemorates him only on 5 October. His tomb was located in Smyrna, where he perhaps suffered martyrdom at the time of Marcus Aurelius or Commodus. The writer Apollonius, in a work against the Montanists, affirmed that he had perished in his own time, and Bishop Polycrates of Ephesus, in the letter sent by Pope Victor concerning the Paschal controversy, attested that T. had followed the Quartodeciman practice.
