ADANA. - City of Cilicia, situated on the river Saihun, an ancient Greek episcopal see, dependent on the see of Taurus. When the Armenian kingdom was established in Cilicia, the see of A. also passed to the Armenian patriarchate. In the 12th-14th centuries, after the destruction of the major cities and the Egyptian invasion of Cilicia, A. became an important historical and religious center of Armenian Cilicia. In 1310 the agreement on the succession to the throne of Cyprus was concluded at A. before the delegates of the Pope, and in 1316 the penultimate general national Armenian synod was convoked there.

THE COUNCIL OF ADANA
Riunito nell'anno 1313 sotto la presidenza del patriarca Costantino, confermò i decreti del Concilio di Sis, che si era molto adoperato per l'unione con la Chiesa Romana. Having pronounced the anathema against Eutyches and affirmed the existence of two natures in Jesus Christ, the members of the council decreed that from then on the feast of Christmas would be celebrated on December 25, distinct from the feast of the Epiphany and of the baptism of Our Lord, which was celebrated on January 6.
