FASSONI, LIBERATO di SAN GIOVANNI BATTISTA. – Theologian of the Pious Schools, born in Liguria in 1720, died in Rome on 4 May 1775. Professor in Senigallia and Rome, he was a member of the Academies of Cagliari and Turin.
Among his works, written in fine Latin, the following are noteworthy: De leibnitziam rationis sufficientis principio (in fol., Senigallia 1754, Buda 1767); De miraculis adversus B. Spinoam (Rome 1754); De Graeca sacrorum litterarum editione a LXX interpretibus (Urbino 1754; Rome 1758); De voce homonium (Rome 1755), in which he sought to demonstrate that this expression was not rejected by the Antiochene Fathers; De piorum in sima Abrahna beatitudine ante Christi mortem (ibid. 1760), Cadonici (v.), who maintained that the Fathers of the Old Testament in Limbo enjoyed the beatific vision.
