ANTONIO FERNANDEZ. – Jesuit, missionary, born in Lisbon in 1569, died in Goa on 12 November 1642. In 1607 he departed for India; from there, in 1604, he went to the mission in Ethiopia, where he remained for thirty years amid hardships and dangers, yet also consolations. He succeeded in converting the viceroy of Ethiopia to the faith.
