PAGANI, GIOVANNI BATTISTA. - ROSMINIANI (v.) in the Istituto della Carità (v.), born at Borgomanero (Novara) on 1 May 1806, died at Rome on 26 Dec. 1860. First spiritual director at the Seminary of Novara, having then become a religious, he was sent to England with the other celebrated Rosminian Luigi Gentili, who died in the repute of sanctity and played a leading part in the restoration of the hierarchy in England as adviser to the Holy See together with Fr. Untiring in his apostolate, Fr. governed the Institute in England until Rosmini’s death (1855).
A most devout soul, ardent in charity and zeal for religion, he was a prolific and enlightened writer on asceticism. This is shown by his writings, among which the very popular L'anima divota della S.ma Eucaristia (1855); L'anima amante (1848); Exercitia spiritualia (1856); La scienza dei Santi, 3 vols.
