SUPERIOR SCHOOL OF CHRISTIAN ART "BLESSED ANGELICO". - Founded by Msgr. G. Polvara (v.) in October 1921 with the twofold purpose of preparing Christian artists capable of transforming their faith and their love in their works destined for the Church, and of producing works of art for the Church, drawing inspiration from the sources of the liturgy. There is no field of art of interest to the Church that has not been treated by the "Beato Angelico" school, from architecture to sculptural, pictorial, mosaic decoration, from furniture to chasing, from stained-glass windows to enamels, from fabrics to tapestries, from embroideries to vestments, etc.
Today this school is flanked by a religious institution, the "Famiglia Beato Angelico" (erected as a collegiate moral entity by the cardinal archbishop of Milan in 1942 and as a patrimonial entity in 1943), with a directing office able to guarantee its continuity; its director is still the architect Fr. Giacomo Bettoli. St. Alexander (Gallarate); Cederna (Monza); St. Edward (Busto Arsizio); Solbiate Olona; Sts. Nabore and Felix (Milan); Gratosoglio (Milan); Archiepiscopal College of Saronno.
