CAVALLUCCI, ANTONIO. - Painter, b. at Sermoneta (Rome) on 21 Aug. 1752, d. at Rome on 18 Nov. 1795. He was a pupil of Stefano Pozzi and of Gaetano Lapis, but soon inclined toward the manner of Mengs and Batoni.

Some portraits are the best part of his output, such as the very beautiful one of St. Joseph Labre in the Corsini gallery in Rome. He worked in fresco in the Caetani castle at Sermoneta and for them he also executed portraits and miniatures. The following are also cited among his works: Scenes from the Life of St. Peter and the Apostles (overdoors in the sacristy of the Canons and in that of the Beneficiaries in St. Peter's in the Vatican); St. Elias and The Purgatory (in S. Martino ai Monti, Rome); Vesting of St. Bona (Pisa, Cathedral); Presentation of Mary in the Temple (Spoleto, Cathedral); Dream of St. Joseph (1788, Subiaco, parish church).
