ISNARDO da CHIAMPO, Blessed. – A Dominican (also known as I. da Vicenza or da Pavia), born in Chiamo (Vicenza) toward the end of the 12th century, died in Pavia on 19 March 1244. Having taken the habit of St Dominic, probably in Bologna, he then went to Milan and around 1230 to Pavia, where he formed a friendship with the holy bishop Redobaldo II, who in 1231 granted him the church of Santa Maria di Nazareth to found a monastery of his Order. There he served as prior, exercising an effective apostolate, enriched also by the gift of miracles. The Chapter of the cathedral of Tours entrusted him with the administration of all its property in Italy. In 1919 an Office and proper Mass in his honour were approved (AAS, 11 [1919], p. 481). Feast day: 22 March.
