MOSOLLAM

MOSOLLAM (Heb. Mēsullām). - Name of various Old Testament figures, especially of the post-exilic period, whose identity it is often difficult to determine.

1. Ancestor of Shaphan, secretary of Josiah (2 Kings 22:3).
2. A Levite descended from Kohath, who collaborated with Josiah in the reform (2 Chron. 34:12).
3. Son of Zerubbabel (1 Chron. 3:19), of the Davidic line.
4. A member of the tribe of Gad (ibid. 5:13).
5. Two or three members of the tribe of Benjamin (ibid. 8:17; 9:7, 8).
6. Two priests living in Jerusalem (ibid. 9:11, 12).
7. A companion of Ezra on the journey to Jerusalem (Ezra 8:16); he cooperated in the examination of marriages with foreign women (ibid. 10:15).
8. A priest married to a foreign woman in the time of Ezra (ibid. 10:19).
9. Two collaborators in the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem (Neh. 3:4, 6, 30).
