SERRA, LUIGI. – Painter, born in Bologna on 8 June 1846, died there on 11 August 1888.
In 1868 he went to study in Florence; he then went to Rome, from where he sent paintings of a historical character to Bologna. In 1871 he won a competition for the stage curtain of the “Teatro Gentile” in Fabriano. In 1875 he was in Venice, and then once again in Rome, where he painted in the apse of S. Maria della Vittoria a large fresco depicting the Triumphal Entry of the Catholics into Prague, as well as several paintings, among them S. Giovanni Nepomuceno for S. Giovanni in Laterano, S. Bonaventura
