ZALLINGER ZUM THURN, JAKOB ANTON. - Jesuit, canonist, and philosopher, b. at Bolzano on 26 July 1735, d. there on 11 Jan. 1813.
He entered the Society of Jesus on 9 Oct. 1753 and was ordained on 1 June 1765. Having obtained his doctorate in theology, he was professor of philosophy at Monaco, Dillingen, and Innsbruck. After the suppression of the Society (1773), he taught canon law for twenty years at the College of the Most Holy Savior in Augusta. He was also adviser to the apostolic nuncio at Ratisbona and went to Rome to resolve German ecclesiastical questions. In philosophy he followed Newton and the analytical method and refuted Kant.
