Bandini, Ottavio

BANDINI, OTTAVIO. - Cardinal, born in Florence, died in Rome on August 1, 1629. He took his degree in law at Pisa. Having gone to Rome, he was appointed apostolic protonotary by Gregory XIII. In 1586 Sixtus V entrusted him with the government of the city of Fermo, and in 1590 with the presidency of all the Marches. On July 29, 1595, he was appointed archbishop of Fermo by Clement VIII, and on June 5 of the following year cardinal of the title of St. Sabina. In 1606 he resigned the archbishopric of Fermo; in 1626, under Urban VIII, he became bishop of Ostia and dean of the Sacred College.
