PIETRO d'ANCAMANO. — Canonist glossator, born between 1330 and 1333 at Ancarano, died in Bologna on 13 May 1416. A disciple of Baldo degli Ubaldi, he was a professor at Bologna in 1384; he subsequently taught at Siena (1387–90), Padua, Ferrara, and again at Bologna, representing this University at the Council of Pisa.
He composed commentaries on the Decretals of Gregory IX (Lyons 1518–31), on the Sixth Book of Boniface VIII (Venice 1575), and on the Clementines (ibid. 1483, Lyons 1511, and elsewhere); the complete edition of the various commentaries was published in 5 vols. at Bologna in 1581. He is also credited with highly esteemed Consilia (Venice 1569, 1576).
