CORRADO dell'ASSUNTA. - Discalced Carmelite and missionary, in the world Giov. Pietro Dinnard, b. in Vienna on 15 Oct. 1654. He professed the Carmelite religion at Munich in 1674, and was a missionary from 1684 in Persia (from 1695 superior), where he worked much for the reunion of the Armenians.
Returning there, after a journey to Rome (1699), he was detained in Russia, at the court of the tsar, where he worked for the reunion of the Church of Russia with the Roman one. Authorized by the S. Congregation of Propaganda (22 June 1705), he recovered some Churches in Narva. From 1710 he devoted himself in Poland to the return of the schismatics to the Catholic faith and to the conversion of the heretics. Having returned to his province of Austria, he d. at Sanct Pölten on 9 Nov. 1723.
