CORRADO dell'ASSUNTA. - Discalced Carmelite and missionary, born Giovanni Pietro Dinnard in Vienna on 15 October 1654. He professed the Carmelite rule in Munich in 1674 and served as a missionary from 1684 in Persia (from 1695 as superior), where he worked extensively for the reunion of the Armenians.
On his return, after a journey to Rome (1699), he was detained in Russia at the tsar’s court, where he labored for the reunion of the Russian Church with Rome. Authorized by the Sacred Congregation of Propaganda (22 June 1725), he recovered several churches in Narva. From 1710 he devoted himself in Poland to bringing schismatics back to the Catholic faith and converting heretics. Returning to his Austrian province, he died at Sankt Pölten on 9 November 1723.
