Deus deorum. The coming of Christ: who prefers virtue and inward purity before the blood of victims.

1A psalm for Asaph. The God of gods, the Lord hath spoken: and he hath called the earth. From the rising of the sun, to the going down thereof:Salmo per Asaph. Il Dio degli dei, il Signore ha parlato, e ha chiamata la terra, dall'oriente fino all'occaso:A Psalme to Asaph. THE God of goddes our Lord hath spoken: and he hath called the earth, from the rysing of the sunne euen to the going downe.Psalmus Asaph. 2Out of Sion the loveliness of his beauty. Out of Syon the beauty of his comelines.Ex Sion species decoris ejus: 3God shall come manifestly: our God shall come, and shall not keep silence. A fire shall burn before him: and a mighty tempest shall be round about him. God wil come manifestly: our God and he wil not kepe silence. Fire shal burne forth in his sight: and round about him a mighty tempest. 4He shall call heaven from above, and the earth, to judge his people. He shal cal the heauen from aboue: and the earth to discerne his people.Advocabit cælum desursum, et terram, / discernere populum suum. 5Gather ye together his saints to him: who set his covenant before sacrifices.Congregate a lui tutti i suoi santi, i quali fermaron con lui alleanza per mezzo de' sagrifizj.Gather ye together his saincts vnto him: which ordaine his testament aboue sacrifices.Congregate illi sanctos ejus, / qui ordinant testamentum ejus super sacrificia. 6And the heavens shall declare his justice: for God is judge.E i cieli annunzieranno la giustizia di lui, perché il giudice è Dio.And the heauens shal shew forth his iustice: because God is Iudge. 7Hear, O my people, and I will speak: O Israel, and I will testify to thee: I am God, thy God.Ascolta, popol mio, e io parlerò; Israele (ascolta), e io spiegherommi con te: Dio io sono, e tuo Dio:Heare ô my people, and I wil speake: Israel, and I wil testifie to thee: God thy God am I.Audi, populus meus, et loquar; / Israël, et testificabor tibi: / Deus, Deus tuus ego sum. 8I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices: and thy burnt offerings are always in my sight.Non ti riprenderò per ragion de' tuoi sagrifizj, e i tuoi olocausti sono sempre dinanzi a me.I wil not rebuke thee in thy sacrifices: and thy holocaustes are in my sight alwaies.

9I will not take calves out of thy house: nor he goats out of thy flocks.Non riceverò dalla tua casa i vitelli, né da' tuoi greggi i capretti.I wil not take calues out of thy house: nor buckegoats out of thy flockes.Non accipiam de domo tua vitulos, / neque de gregibus tuis hircos: 10For all the beasts of the woods are mine: the cattle on the hills, and the oxen.Imperocché sono mie tutte le fiere de' boschi, i giumenti ne' monti, ed i travi.Because al the wilde beasts of the woods be myne, the cattle in the mountaines and oxen.quoniam meæ sunt omnes feræ silvarum, / jumenta in montibus, et boves. 11I know all the fowls of the air: and with me is the beauty of the field.Io conosco tutti gli uccelli dell'aria, ed è mia l'amenità delle campagne.I haue knowne al the foules of the ayer: and the beauty of the fielde is with me.Cognovi omnia volatilia cæli, / et pulchritudo agri mecum est. 12If I should be hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof. If I shal be hungrie, I wil not tel thee: for the round earth is myne, and the fulnes therof. 13Shall I eat the flesh of bullocks? or shall I drink the blood of goats?Mangerò io forse le carni de' tori? O beverò io il sangue de' montoni?Wil I eate the flesh of oxen? or wil I drinke the blood of bucke goats?Numquid manducabo carnes taurorum ? / aut sanguinem hircorum potabo ? 14Offer to God the sacrifice of praise: and pay thy vows to the most High. Immolate to God the sacrifice of praise, and pay thy vowes to the Highest.Immola Deo sacrificium laudis, / et redde Altissimo vota tua. 15And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.E invocami nel giorno della tribolazione: ti libererò, e tu darai a me gloria. And inuocate me in the day of tribulation: I wil deliuer thee, and thou shalt glorifie me.Et invoca me in die tribulationis: / eruam te, et honorificabis me. 16But to the sinner God hath said: Why dost thou declare my justices, and take my covenant in thy mouth? But to the sinner God hath sayde: Why doest thou declare my iustices, and takest my testament by thy mouth?Peccatori autem dixit Deus: Quare tu enarras justitias meas ? / et assumis testamentum meum per os tuum ? 17Seeing thou hast hated discipline: and hast cast my words behind thee. But thou hast hated discipline: & cast my words behind thee.Tu vero odisti disciplinam, / et projecisti sermones meos retrorsum.

18If thou didst see a thief thou didst run with him: and with adulterers thou hast been a partaker. If thou didst see a theefe, thou didst rune with him: and with adulterers thou didst put thy portion. 19Thy mouth hath abounded with evil, and thy tongue framed deceits. Thy mouth hath abounded with malice: and thy tongue fourged guiles.Os tuum abundavit malitia, / et lingua tua concinnabat dolos. 20Sitting thou didst speak against thy brother, and didst lay a scandal against thy mother’s son:Stando a sedere parlavi contro del tuo fratello, e al figliuolo di tua madre ponevi inciampo:Sitting thou spakest against thy brother, and against thy mothers sonne thou didst put a scandal:Sedens adversus fratrem tuum loquebaris, / et adversus filium matris tuæ ponebas scandalum. 21These things hast thou done, and I was silent. Thou thoughtest unjustly that I should be like to thee: but I will reprove thee, and set before thy face.queste cose hai fatte, ed io ho taciuto. Hai creduto, o iniquo, ch'io sia: per esser simile a te: ti riprenderò, e te porrò di contro alla tua faccia.these things hast thou done, and I haue held my peace. Thou hast thought vniustly that I wil be like thee: I wil reproue thee, and set it against thy face.Hæc fecisti, et tacui. 22Understand these things, you that forget God; lest he snatch you away, and there be none to deliver you. Vnderstand these things you that forget God: lest sometime he take you violently and there be none to deliuer you. 23The sacrifice of praise shall glorify me: and there is the way by which I will shew him the salvation of God.Il sagrifizio di lode mi onorerà; ed esso è la via per cui farò vedere all'uomo la salute di Dio.The sacrifice of prayse shal glorifie me: and there is the way, by which I wil shew him the saluation of God.Sacrificium laudis honorificabit me, / et illic iter quo ostendam illi salutare Dei.
