1In those days Ezechias was sick even to death, and Isaias the son of Amos the prophet came unto him, and said to him: Thus saith the Lord: Take order with thy house, for thou shalt die, and not live.I que' giorni ammalossi Ezechia a morte; e andò da lui Isaia figliuolo di Amos profeta, e gli disse: Queste cose dice il Signore: Dà sesto alle cose della tua casa, perocché tu morrai, e non viverai.IN those dayes Ezechias was sick euen to death, and Isaie the sonne of Amos the prophet, went in vnto him, and said to him: Thus sayth our Lord. Take order with thy house, for thou shalt die, and shalt not liue. 2And Ezechias turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord,E volse Ezechia la sua faccia al muro, e fece orazione al Signore,And Ezechias turned his face to the wal, and prayed to our Lord,Et convertit Ezechias faciem suam ad parietem, et oravit ad Dominum, 3And said: I beseech thee, O Lord, remember how I have walked before thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Ezechias wept with great weeping.E disse: Ricorditi, ti prego, o Signore, come io ho camminato dinanzi a te nella verità, e con un cuore perfetto, ed ho fatto quello, che era giusto negli occhi tuoi. E pianse Ezechia a cald'occhi.and said: I besech thee Lord, remember I pray thee how I haue walked before thee in truth, and in a perfect hart, and haue done that which is good in thine eies. And Ezechias wepte with great weeping.et dixit: Obsecro, Domine, memento, quæso, quomodo ambulaverim coram te in veritate et in corde perfecto, et quod bonum est in oculis tuis fecerim. Et flevit Ezechias fletu magno. 4And the word of the Lord came to Isaias, saying:E il Signore parlò ad Isaia, dicendo:And the word of our Lord was made to Isaie, saying:Et factum est verbum Domini ad Isaiam, dicens: 5Go and say to Ezechias: Thus saith the Lord the God of David thy father: I have heard thy prayer, and I have seen thy tears: behold I will add to thy days fifteen years:Va, e dì ad Ezechia: Il Signore Dio di Davidde tuo padre dice così: Ho udita la tua orazione, e ho veduto le tue lagrime: ecco che io aggiungerò alla tua vita quindici anni:Goe, & tel Ezechias: Thus saith our Lord the God of Dauid thy father: I haue heard thy prayer, and seene thy teares: Loe I wil adde vpon thy dayes fiftene yeares:Vade, et dic Ezechiæ: Hæc dicit Dominus Deus David patris tui: Audivi orationem tuam, et vidi lacrimas tuas; ecce ego adjiciam super dies tuos quindecim annos,

6And I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of the Assyrians, and I will protect it.E dal potere del re degli Assirj libererò te, e questa città, e la proteggerò.and out of the hand of the king of the Assirians wil I deliuer thee: and this citie, and wil protect it.et de manu regis Assyriorum eruam te, et civitatem istam, et protegam eam. 7And this shall be a sign to thee from the Lord, that the Lord will do this word which he hath spoken:E che il Signore sia per fare quello, ch'egli ha detto, ne avrai tu da Dio questo segno:And this shal be a signe to thee from our Lord, that our Lord wil doe this word, which he hath spoken:Hoc autem tibi erit signum a Domino, quia faciet Dominus verbum hoc quod locutus est: 8Behold I will bring again the shadow of the lines, by which it is now gone down in the sun dial of Achaz with the sun, ten lines backward. And the sun returned ten lines by the degrees by which it was gone down. Behold I wil make the shadow of the lines returne, by the which it is now gone downe in the dyal of Achaz in the sunne, backward ten lines. And the sunne returned ten lines by the degrees whereby it was gone downe.ecce ego reverti faciam umbram linearum per quas descenderat in horologio Achaz in sole, retrorsum decem lineis. 9The writing of Ezechias king of Juda, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness. The scripture of Ezechias the king of Iuda, when he had bene sicke, and was recouered of his infirmitie. 10I said: In the midst of my days I shall go to the gates of hell: I sought for the residue of my years. Cercava il resto degli anni miei:I haue said: In the middes of my daies shal I goe to the gates of hel. I haue sought the residue of my yeares.Ego dixi in dimidio dierum meorum: / Vadam ad portas inferi; / quæsivi residuum annorum meorum. 11I said: I shall not see the Lord God in the land of the living. I shall behold man no more, nor the inhabitant of rest. I haue said: I shal not see our Lord God in the land of the liuing. I shal behold man no more, and the inhabiter of rest.Dixi: Non videbo Dominum Deum / in terra viventium; / non aspiciam hominem ultra, / et habitatorem quietis.

12My generation is at an end, and it is rolled away from me, as a shepherd’s tent. My life is cut off, as by a weaver: whilst I was yet but beginning, he cut me off: from morning even to night thou wilt make an end of me.Il vivere è a me tolto, ripiegato il mio tabernacolo come tenda di un pastore. My generation is taken away; and is wrapped together from me, as the tent of shepehards: My life is cut of, as by a weauer: whiles I yet began he cut me of: from morning vntil night thou wilt make an end of me.Generatio mea ablata est, et convoluta est a me, / quasi tabernaculum pastorum. / Præcisa est velut a texente vita mea; / dum adhuc ordirer, succidit me: / de mane usque ad vesperam finies me. 13I hoped till morning, as a lion so hath he broken all my bones: from morning even to night thou wilt make an end of me.Sperai fino al mattino; egli quasi lione stritolò tutte le ossa mie: Dal mattino alla sera tu mi finirai:I hoped vntil morning, as a lion so hath he broken al my bones: From morning vntil euening thou wilt make an end of me.Sperabam usque ad mane; / quasi leo, sic contrivit omnia ossa mea: / de mane usque ad vesperam finies me. 14I will cry like a young swallow, I will meditate like a dove: my eyes are weakened looking upward: Lord, I suffer violence, answer thou for me.Io strideva come un tenero rondinino: gemeva come colomba: Si debilitarono gli occhi miei col mirar su all'alto. Signore lo stato mio è violento; prendi il patrocinio di me.As a yong swallow so wil I crie, I wil meditate as a doue: Mine eies are weakened, looking on high: Lord I suffer violence, answer for me.Sicut pullus hirundinis, sic clamabo; / meditabor ut columba. / Attenuati sunt oculi mei, suspicientes in excelsum. / Domine, vim patior: responde pro me. 15What shall I say, or what shall he answer for me, whereas he himself hath done it? I will recount to thee all my years in the bitterness of my soul. What shal I say, or what shal he answer me, wheras him self hath done it? I wil recount to thee al my yeares in the bitternes of my soule. / Recogitabo tibi omnes annos meos / in amaritudine animæ meæ. 16O Lord, if man’s life be such, and the life of my spirit be in such things as these, thou shalt correct me, and make me to live. Lord if mans life be such, and the life of my spirit in such thinges, thou shalt chasten me, and shalt quicken me.Domine, si sic vivitur, / et in talibus vita spiritus mei, / corripies me, et vivificabis me.

17Behold in peace is my bitterness most bitter: but thou hast delivered my soul that it should not perish, thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back. Behold in peace is my bitternes most bitter: But thou hast deliuered my soule that it should not perish, thou hast cast al my sinnes behind thy backe.Ecce in pace amaritudo mea amarissima. 18For hell shall not confess to thee, neither shall death praise thee: nor shall they that go down into the pit, look for thy truth. Because hel shal not confesse to thee, neither shal death prayse thee: they that goe downe into the lake, shal not expect thy truth. 19The living, the living, he shall give praise to thee, as I do this day: the father shall make thy truth known to the children.I vivi, i vivi daran laude a te, com' io pure in questo giorno: annuncerà il padre a figliuoli come verace se tu.The liuing the liuing he shal confesse to thee, as I also this day: the father shal make thy truth knowen to the children.Vivens, vivens ipse confitebitur tibi, / sicut et ego hodie; / pater filiis notam faciet / veritatem tuam. 20O Lord, save me, and we will sing our psalms all the days of our life in the house of the Lord.Salvami, o Signore, e noi canteremo i nostri cantici per tutti i giorni di nostra vita nella casa del Signore.O Lord saue me, and we shal sing our psalmes al the dayes of our life in the house of our Lord.Domine, salvum me fac ! / et psalmos nostros cantabimus / cunctis diebus vitæ nostræ / in domo Domini. 21Now Isaias had ordered that they should take a lump of figs, and lay it as a plaster upon the wound, and that he should be healed.E Isaia comandò, che prendessero una quantità di fichi, e ne formassero un impiastro alla piaga, la quale sarebbe guarita. And Isaie commanded that they should take a lumpe of figges, & plaster it vpon the wound, and he should be healed. 22And Ezechias had said: What shall be the sign that I shall go up to the house of the Lord? And Ezechias sayd: What shal be the signe that I shal goe vp into the house of our Lord?Et dixit Ezechias: Quod erit signum quia ascendam in domum Domini ?
