1And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord after the death of Aod:Ma i figliuoli d'Israele ricominciarono a far il male nel cospetto del Signore, morto che fu Aod,AND the children of Israel added to doe euil in the sight of our Lord after the death of Aod,Addideruntque filii Israël facere malum in conspectu Domini post mortem Aod, 2And the Lord delivered them up into the hands of Jabin, king of Chanaan, who reigned in Asor: and he had a general of his army named Sisara, and he dwelt in Haroseth of the Gentiles.E il Signore li diede in potere di Jabin re di Canaan, il quale regnò in Asor: ed ebbe per condottiere del suo esercito uno chiamato Sisara, ed egli abitava in Haroseth delle nazioni.and our Lord deliuered them into the handes of Iabin the king of Chanaan, which reigned in Asor: and he had a captaine of his armie named Sisara, and he dwelt in Haroseth of the gentiles.et tradidit illos Dominus in manus Jabin regis Chanaan, qui regnavit in Asor: habuitque ducem exercitus sui nomine Sisaram, ipse autem habitabat in Haroseth gentium. 3And the children of Israel cried to the Lord: for he had nine hundred chariots set with scythes and for twenty years had grievously oppressed them.E i figliuoli d'Israele alzaron le grida al Signore: perocché Jabin avea novecento cocchi armati di falci, e gli avea vessati fuor di modo per venti anni. And the children of Israel cried to our Lord: for he had nine hundred yron hooked chariottes, and for twentie yeres had vehemently oppressed them. 4And there was at that time Debbora, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, who judged the people. And there was one Debbora a prophetese the wife of Lapidoth, which iudged the people at that time.Erat autem Debbora prophetis uxor Lapidoth, quæ judicabat populum in illo tempore. 5And she sat under a palm tree, which was called by her name, between Rama and Bethel, in Mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for all judgment. And she sate vnder a palme tree, which was called by her name, betwen Rama and Bethel in the mount of Ephraim: and the children of Israel went vp to her for al iudgement.

6And she sent and called Barac, the Son of Abinoem, out of Cedes, in Nephthali: and she said to him: The Lord God of Israel hath commanded thee: Go, and lead an army to Mount Thabor, and thou shalt take with thee ten thousand fighting men of the children of Nephthali, and of the children of Zabulon:Ed ella mandò a chiamare Barac figliuolo di Abinoem di Cedes di Nephthali, e gli disse: Il Signore Dio d'Israele ti comanda, va, e conduci l'esercito sul monte Thabor, e prendi teco dieci mila combattenti della tribù di Nephthali, e di quella di Zabulon:Who sent, and called Barac the sonne of Abinoem of Cedes in Nepthali: and she said to him: Our Lord God of Israel hath commanded thee, Goe, and lead an armie into mount Thabor, and thou shalt take with thee ten thousand fighting men of the children of Nepthali, and of the children of Zabulon:Quæ misit et vocavit Barac filium Abinoëm de Cedes Nephthali: dixitque ad eum: Præcepit tibi Dominus Deus Israël: Vade, et duc exercitum in montem Thabor, tollesque tecum decem millia pugnatorum de filiis Nephthali, et de filiis Zabulon: 7And I will bring unto thee in the place of the torrent Cison, Sisara, the general of Jabin’s army, and his chariots, and all his multitude, and will deliver them into thy hand.E io condurrò a te in un luogo del torrente Cison Sisara condottiero dell'esercito di Jabin, e i suoi cocchi, e tutta sua gente, e li darò in tuo potere.and I wil bring vnto thee in the place of the Torrent Cison, Sisara the prince of the hoste of Iabin, and his chariotes, and al the multitude, and wil deliuer them in thy hand.ego autem adducam ad te in loco torrentis Cison, Sisaram principem exercitus Jabin, et currus ejus, atque omnem multitudinem, et tradam eos in manu tua. 8And Barac said to her: If thou wilt come with me, I will go: if thou wilt not come with me, I will not go.Ma Barac le disse: Se tu vieni con meco, io anderò; se non vieni meco, io non mi muovo. And Barac said to her: If thou come with me, I wil goe: If thou wilt not come with me, I wil not goe. 9She said to him: I will go, indeed, with thee, but at this time the victory shall not be attributed to thee, because Sisara shall be delivered into the hand of a woman. Debbora therefore arose, and went with Barac to Cedes. Who said to him: I wil goe in deede with thee, but at this time the victorie shal not be imputed to thee, because Sisara shal be deliuered into the hand of a woman. Debbora therfore arose, and went with Barac into Cedes.

10And he called unto him Zabulon and Nephthali, and went up with ten thousand fighting men, having Debbora in his company. Who calling vnto him Zabulon and Nepthali, went vp with ten thousand fighting men, hauing Debbora in his companie. 11Now Haber, the Cinite, had some time before departed from the rest of the Cinites, his brethren, the sons of Hobab, the kinsman of Moses: and had pitched his tents unto the valley, which is called Sennim, and was near Cedes. And Habet the Cineite was in time past departed from the rest of the Cineites his brethren of Hobab, the cosin of Moyses: and had pitched his tentes vnto the valley, which is called Sennim, and was nere Cedes.Haber autem Cinæus recesserat quondam a ceteris Cinæis fratribus suis, filiis Hobab cognati Moysi: et tetenderat tabernacula usque ad vallem, quæ vocatur Sennim, et erat juxta Cedes. 12And it was told Sisara, that Barac, the son of Abinoem, was gone up to Mount Thabor:E Sisara ebbe avviso, come Barac figliuolo di Abinoem era andato al monte Thabor:And it was told Sisara, that Barac the sonne of Abinoem was gone vp into mount Thabor:Nuntiatumque est Sisaræ quod ascendisset Barac filius Abinoëm in montem Thabor: 13And he gathered together his nine hundred chariots armed with scythes, and all his army, from Haroseth of the Gentiles, to the torrent Cison.E adunò novecento cocchi armati di falci, e si mosse con tutto l'esercito di Haroseth delle nazioni verso il torrente Cison.and he gathered nine hundred yron hooked chariottes, and al his armie from Haroseth of the gentiles to the torrent Cison.et congregavit nongentos falcatos currus, et omnem exercitum de Haroseth gentium ad torrentem Cison. 14And Debbora said to Barac: Arise, for this is the day wherein the Lord hath delivered Sisara into thy hands: behold, he is thy leader. And Barac went down from Mount Thabor, and ten thousand fighting men with him.E Debora disse a Barac: Levati su; perocché questo è il giorno, in cui il Signore ha dato nelle tue mani Sisara: ecco che egli è tua scorta. And Debbora said to Barac: Arise, for this is the day, wherin our Lord hath deliuered Sisara into thy handes: behold he is thy leader. And Barac went downe from mount Thabor, and ten thousand fighting men with him.

15And the Lord struck a terror into Sisara, and all his chariots, and all his multitude, with the edge of the sword, at the sight of Barac; insomuch, that Sisara leaping down from off his chariot, fled away on foot,E il Signore gettò spavento sopra Sisara, e i suoi cocchi, e sopra tutta la sua gente, che fu messa a fil di spada al primo apparire di Barac; talmente che Sisara saltato giù dal cocchio fuggissi a piedi:And our Lord terrified Sisara, and al his chariotes, and al the multitude in the edge of the sword at the sight of Barac: in so much, that Sisara leaping downe from his chariote, fled a foote,Perterruitque Dominus Sisaram, et omnes currus ejus, universamque multitudinem in ore gladii ad conspectum Barac: in tantum, ut Sisara de curru desiliens, pedibus fugeret, 16And Barac pursued after the fleeing chariots, and the army, unto Haroseth of the Gentiles; and all the multitude of the enemies was utterly destroyed.E Barac inseguì i cocchi che fuggivano, e le schiere fino ad Haroseth delle nazioni: e tutta la turba de' nemici perì dal primo fino all'ultimo.and Barac pursewed the chariotes fleeing, and the armie vnto Haroseth of the gentiles, and al the multitude of the enemies was vtterly destroyed.et Barac persequeretur fugientes currus, et exercitum usque ad Haroseth gentium, et omnis hostium multitudo usque ad internecionem caderet. 17But Sisara fleeing, came to the tent of Jahel, the wife of Haber, the Cinite, for there was peace between Jabin, the king of Asor, and the house of Haber, the Cinite. But Sisara fleeing came to the tent of Iahel the wife of Haber the Cineite. for there was peace betwixt Iabin the king of Asor, and the house of Haber the Cineite. 18And Jahel went forth to meet Sisara, and said to him: Come in to me, my lord; come in, fear not. He went into her tent, and being covered by her with a cloak,Uscì adunque Jahel incontro a Sisara, e gli disse: Entra in casa mia, Signore: entra, non temere. Iahel therfore going forth to meete Sisara, said to him: Come in to me my Lord, come in, feare no•. Who being entred into her tabernacle, and couered of her with a cloke,Egressa igitur Jahel in occursum Sisaræ, dixit ad eum: Intra ad me, domine mi: intra, ne timeas. Qui ingressus tabernaculum ejus, et opertus ab ea pallio, 19Said to her: Give me, I beseech thee, a little water, for I am very thirsty. She opened a bottle of milk, and gave him to drink, and covered him. Ed ella aperse un otre di latte, e diegli da bere, e lo coperse con un mantello.said to her: Geue me, I beseech thee, a little water, for I am very thirstie. Who opened a bottle of milke, and gaue him to drinke, and couered him.dixit ad eam: Da mihi, obsecro, paululum aquæ, quia sitio valde.

20And Sisara said to her: Stand before the door of the tent, and when any shall come and inquire of thee, saying: Is there any man here? thou shalt say: There is none.E Sisara le disse: Sta dinanzi alla porta della tenda; e venendo alcuno che domandi, e dica: Vi ha egli qua alcuno? Risponderai: Non ci è nissuno. And Sisara said to her: Stand before the doore of the tabernacle, and when any shal come asking thee, and saying: Is there any man here? Thou shalt say: There is none. 21So Jahel, Haber’s wife, took a nail of the tent, and taking also a hammer: and going in softly, and with silence, she put the nail upon the temples of his head, and striking it with the hammer, drove it through his brain fast into the ground: and so passing from deep sleep to death, he fainted away and died. Iahel therfore the wife of Haber tooke a nayle of the tabernacle, taking with al a hammer also: and going in secretely, and with silence she put the naile vpon the temple of his head, and striking it with the hammer, fastened it into his braine euen to the ground: who ioyning deepe sleepe and death together, faynted, and died. 22And behold, Barac came pursuing after Sisara: and Jahel went out to meet him, and said to him: Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, he saw Sisara lying dead, and the nail fastened in his temples. And behold Barac folowing Sisara came: & Iahel going forth to meete him, said to him: Come, and I wil thew thee the man whom thou seekest. Who when he was entered in vnto her, saw Sisara lying dead, and the nayle fastened in his temples. 23So God that day humbled Jabin, the king of Chanaan, before the children of Israel:Il Signore così umiliò in quel giorno Jabin re di Canaan dinanzi a' figliuoli d'Israele:Therfore God that day humbled Iabin the king of Chanaan before the children of Israel:Humiliavit ergo Deus in die illo Jabin regem Chanaan coram filiis Israël:

24Who grew daily stronger, and with a mighty hand overpowered Jabin, king of Chanaan, till they quite destroyed him.I quali prendevan vigore ogni dì più, e con mano forte premevano Jabin re di Canaan, fino a tanto che l'ebbero distrutto.which increased daily, and with strong hand oppressed Iabin the king of Chanaan, til they destroyed him.qui crescebant quotidie, et forti manu opprimebant Jabin regem Chanaan, donec delerent eum.
