Christ foretells the destruction of the temple and the signs that shall forerun the day of judgment.

1And as he was going out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him: Master, behold what manner of stones and what buildings are here.E mentre egli usciva dal tempio, gli disse uno de' suoi discepoli: Maestro, guarda, che sorta di pietre, e che fabbriche (son) queste,AND vvhen he vvent out of the temple, one of his Disciples saith to him, Maister, behold what maner of stones, and vvhat kinde of buildings. 2And Jesus answering, said to him: Seest thou all these great buildings? There shall not be left a stone upon a stone, that shall not be thrown down. And IESVS ansvvering, said to him, Seest thou al these great buildings? There shal nor be left a stone vpon a stone, that shal not be destroied.Et respondens Jesus, ait illi: Vides has omnes magnas ædificationes ? 3And as he sat on the mount of Olivet over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him apart:E mentre egli sedeva sopra il monte degli ulivi dirimpetto al tempio, Pietro, e Giacomo, e Giovanni, e Andrea gli domandarono a parte:And vvhen he sate in Mount-oliuer against the temple, Peter and Iames and Iohn and Andrevv asked him apart,Et cum sederet in monte Olivarum contra templum, interrogabant eum separatim Petrus, et Jacobus, et Joannes, et Andreas: 4Tell us, when shall these things be and what shall be the sign when all these things shall begin to be fulfilled? Tel vs, • vvhen shal these things be? and vvhat shal be the signe vvhen al these things shal begin to be consummate?Dic nobis, quando ista fient ? et quod signum erit, quando hæc omnia incipient consummari ? 5And Jesus answering, began to say to them: Take heed lest any man deceive you.E Gesù rispondendo, principiò a dir loro: Badate, che alcuno non vi seduca:And IESVS ansvvering began to say to them, See, that no man seduce you.Et respondens Jesus cœpit dicere illis: Videte ne quid vos seducat: 6For many shall come in my name saying, I am he: and they shall deceive many.Imperocché molti verranno nel nome mio, dicendo: io son desso: e sedurranno molti.for many shal come in my name saying that I am he: and they shal seduce many.multi enim venient in nomine meo, dicentes quia ego sum: et multos seducent.

7And when you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, fear ye not. For such things must needs be: but the end is not yet. And vvhen you shal heare of vvarres and bruites of vvarres, feare not. for these things must be, but the end is not yet. 8For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places and famines. These things are the beginning of sorrows. For nation shal rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shal be earthquakes in places, and famines. These things are the beginning of sorovves. 9But look to yourselves. For they shall deliver you up to councils: and in the synagogues you shall be beaten: and you shall stand before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony unto them.Voi però badate a voi stessi. But looke to your selues. For they shal deliuer you vp in Councels, and in Synagogs shal you be beaten, and you shal stand before Presidents and Kings for my sake, for a testimonie vnto them. 10And unto all nations the gospel must first be preached.E fa d'uopo, che prima sia predicato il Vangelo presso tutte le nazioni. And into al nations first the Gospel must be preached.Et in omnes gentes primum oportet prædicari Evangelium. 11And when they shall lead you and deliver you up, be not thoughtful beforehand what you shall speak: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye. For it is not you that speak, but the Holy Ghost.E allora quando vi meneranno a imprigionarvi, noti istate a premeditare quel, che abbiate a dire; ma quello, che in quel punto vi sarà dato, quello dite: imperocché non siete voi, che parlate, ma lo Spirito santo. And vvhen they shal leade you and deliuer you, be not careful before hand vvhat you shal speake: but that vvhich shal be giuen you in that houre, that speake ye. For it is not you that speake, but the holy Ghost.

12And the brother shall betray his brother unto death, and the father his son; and children shall rise up against their parents and shall work their death.E il fratello darà alla morte il fratello, e il padre il figliuolo: e si ribelleranno i figliuoli contro de' genitori, e li faranno morire. And brother shal deliuer brother vnto death, and the father his sonne: and the children shal arise against the parents, and shal vvorke their death. 13And you shall be hated by all men for my name’s sake. But he that shall endure unto the end, he shall be saved.E sarete in odio a tutti per causa del nome mio. And you shal be odious to al men for my name. But he that shal endure vnto the end, he shal be saued. 14And when you shall see the abomination of desolation, standing where it ought not (he that readeth let him understand): then let them that are in Judea flee unto the mountains. And vvhen you shal see the abomination of desolation, standing vvhere it ought not (he that readeth, let him vnderstand) then they that are in Ievvrie, let them flee vnto the mountaines:Cum autem videritis abominationem desolationis stantem, ubi non debet, qui legit, intelligat: tunc qui in Judæa sunt, fugiant in montes: 15And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house nor enter therein to take any thing out of the house.E chi (si troverà) sopra il solaio, non iscenda in casa, né vi entri per pigliare qualche cosa di casa sua:and he that is on the house-toppe, let him not goe dovvne into the house, nor enter in to take any thing out of his house:et qui super tectum, ne descendat in domum, nec introëat ut tollat quid de domo sua: 16And let him that shall be in the field not turn back to take up his garment.E chi sarà nel campo, non torni indietro a prendere la sua veste.and he that shal be in the field, let him not returne backe to take his garment.et qui in agro erit, non revertatur retro tollere vestimentum suum. 17And woe to them that are with child and that give suck in those days. And vvo to them that are vvith childe and that giue sucke in those daies.Væ autem prægnantibus et nutrientibus in illis diebus.

18But pray ye that these things happen not in winter. But pray that the things chaunce not in the vvinter.Orate vero ut hieme non fiant. 19For in those days shall be such tribulations as were not from the beginning of the creation which God created until now: neither shall be.Imperocché saranno que' giorni tribolazione, qual mai non fu dal principio della creazione fatta da Dio sino adesso, né mai sarà.For those daies shal be such tribulations as vvere not from the beginning of the creation that God created vntil novv, neither shal be.Erunt enim dies illi tribulationes tales quales non fuerunt ab initio creaturæ, quam condidit Deus usque nunc, neque fient. 20And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh should be saved: but, for the sake of the elect which he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.E se il Signore non avesse abbreviati quei giorni, non si salverebbe nissun uomo: ma in grazia degli eletti prescelti da lui gli ha accorciati. And vnles the Lord had shortened the daies, no flesh should be saued: but for the elect vvhich he hath elected, he hath shortened the daies. 21And then if any man shall say to you: Lo, here is Christ. Lo, he is here: do not believe. And then if any man shal say vnto you, Loe, here is Christ: loe, there: do not beleeue. 22For there will rise up false Christs and false prophets: and they shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce (if it were possible) even the elect. For there shal rise vp false-Christs and false-Prophets, and they shal shevv signes and vvonders, to seduce (if it be possible) the elect also. 23Take you heed therefore: behold, I have foretold you all things.State adunque guardinghi: ecco che io vi ho predetto il tutto. You therfore take heede: behold I haue foretold you al things.Vos ergo videte: ecce prædixi vobis omnia. 24But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not give her light. But in those daies after that tribulation the sunne shal be darkened, and the moone shal not giue her light,Sed in illis diebus, post tribulationem illam, sol contenebrabitur, et luna non dabit splendorem suum:

25And the stars of heaven shall be falling down and the powers that are in heaven shall be moved.E cederanno le stelle del cielo, e le podestà, che sono nel cielo, saranno scommosse.and the starres of heauen shal be falling dovvne, and the povvers that are in heauen, shal be moued.et stellæ cæli erunt decidentes, et virtutes, quæ in cælis sunt, movebuntur. 26And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds, with great power and glory.E allora vedranno il Figliuolo dell'uomo venire sopra le nuvole con potestà grande, e con gloria. And then they shal see the Sonne of man comming in the cloudes, vvith much povver and glorie. 27And then shall he send his angels and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.E allora spedirà i suoi Angeli, e radunerà i suoi eletti dai quattro venti, dall'estremità della terra sino all'estremità del cielo. And then shal he send his Angels, and shal gather together his elect from the foure vvindes, from the vttermost part of the earth to the vttermost part of heauen.Et tunc mittet angelos suos, et congregabit electos suos a quatuor ventis, a summo terræ usque ad summum cæli. 28Now of the fig tree learn ye a parable. When the branch thereof is now tender and the leaves are come forth, you know that summer is very near. And of the figtree learne ye a parable. Vvhen novv the bought thereof is tender, and the leaues come forth, you knovv that sommer is very nigh.A ficu autem discite parabolam. Cum jam ramus ejus tener fuerit, et nata fuerint folia, cognoscitis quia in proximo sit æstas: 29So you also when you shall see these things come to pass, know ye that it is very nigh, even at the doors.Così ancora quando voi vedrete accader queste cose, sappiate, ch'egli è vicino, alle porte.so you also vvhen you shal see these things come to passe, knovv ye that it is very nigh, at the doores.sic et vos cum videritis hæc fieri, scitote quod in proximo sit, in ostiis. 30Amen, I say to you that this generation shall not pass until all these things be done. Amen I say to you, that this generation shal not passe, vntil al these things be done.Amen dico vobis, quoniam non transibit generatio hæc, donec omnia ista fiant.

31Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my word shall not pass away. Heauen and earth shal passe, but my vvordes shal not passe.Cælum et terra transibunt, verba autem mea non transibunt. 32But of that day or hour no man knoweth, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father. But of that day or houre no man knovveth, neither the Angels in heauen, nor the Sonne, but the Father. 33Take ye heed, watch and pray. For ye know not when the time is.State attenti, vegliate, e orate: imperocché non sapete, quando sarà il tempo.Take heede, vvatch, and pray for you knovv not vvhen the time is.Videte, vigilate, et orate: nescitis enim quando tempus sit. 34Even as a man who, going into a far country, left his house and gave authority to his servants over every work and commanded the porter to watch. Euen as a man vvho being gone into a strange countrie, left his house: and gaue his seruants authoritie ouer ech vvorke, and commaunded the porter to vvatch.Sicut homo qui peregre profectus reliquit domum suam, et dedit servis suis potestatem cujusque operis, et janitori præcepit ut vigilet, 35Watch ye therefore (for you know not when the lord of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cock crowing, or in the morning):Vegliate adunque (perché non sapete, quando venga il padrone di casa: se a sera, se a mezzanotte, se al canto del gallo, se la mattina)Vvatch ye therfore (for you knovv not vvhen the lord of the house commeth: at euen, or at midnight, or at the cocke crovving, or in the morning)vigilate ergo (nescitis enim quando dominus domus veniat: sero, an media nocte, an galli cantu, an mane), 36Lest coming on a sudden, he find you sleeping.Affinchè, venendo improvvisamente, non vi trovi addormentati.lest comming vpon a soden, he finde you sleeping.ne, cum venerit repente, inveniat vos dormientes. 37And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch. And that vvhich I say to you, I say to al, Vvatch.Quod autem vobis dico, omnibus dico: Vigilate.
