1A psalm for David. Rejoice in the Lord, O ye just: praise becometh the upright. The Psalme of Dauid. REIOYCE ye iust in our Lord: praysing becometh the righteous.Psalmus David. Exsultate, justi, in Domino; / rectos decet collaudatio. 2Give praise to the Lord on the harp; sing to him with the psaltery, the instrument of ten strings. Confesse ye to our Lord on the harpe: on a psalter of ten strings sing to him.Confitemini Domino in cithara; / in psalterio decem chordarum psallite illi. 3Sing to him a new canticle, sing well unto him with a loud noise. Sing ye to him a new song: sing wel to him in iubilation.Cantate ei canticum novum; / bene psallite ei in vociferatione. 4For the word of the Lord is right, and all his works are done with faithfulness. Because the word of our Lord is right, and al his workes are in faith.Quia rectum est verbum Domini, / et omnia opera ejus in fide. 5He loveth mercy and judgment; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord. He loueth mercie and iudgement: the earth is ful of the mercie of our Lord. 6By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the power of them by the spirit of his mouth:Dalla parola del Signore i cieli ebbero sussistenza, e dallo spirito della sua bocca tutte le loro virtudi.By the word of our Lord the heauens are established: and by the spirit of his mouth al the power of them. 7Gathering together the waters of the sea, as in a vessel; laying up the depths in storehouses. Gathering together the waters of the sea, as it were in a bottel: putting the depthes in treasures.Congregans sicut in utre aquas maris; / ponens in thesauris abyssos. 8Let all the earth fear the Lord, and let all the inhabitants of the world be in awe of him. Let al the earth feare our Lord: and let al the inhabitantes of the world be moued at him.

9For he spoke and they were made: he commanded and they were created.Perocché egli disse, e furon fatte le cose: comandò, e furon create.Because he said, and they were made: he commanded and they were created,Quoniam ipse dixit, et facta sunt; / ipse mandavit et creata sunt. 10The Lord bringeth to nought the counsels of nations; and he rejecteth the devices of people, and casteth away the counsels of princes. Our Lord l dissipateth the counsels of nations: and he reproueth the cogitations of people, and he reproueth the counsels of princes. 11But the counsel of the Lord standeth for ever: the thoughts of his heart to all generations. But the counsel of our Lord abydeth for euer: the cogitations of his hart in generation and generation. 12Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord: the people whom he hath chosen for his inheritance. Blessed is the nation, whose God is our Lord: the people whom he hath chosen for his inheritance,Beata gens cujus est Dominus Deus ejus; / populus quem elegit in hæreditatem sibi. 13The Lord hath looked from heaven: he hath beheld all the sons of men. Our Lord hath looked from heauen: he hath sene al the children of men.De cælo respexit Dominus; / vidit omnes filios hominum. 14From his habitation which he hath prepared, he hath looked upon all that dwell on the earth. From his prepared habitation he hath looked vpon al, that inhabite the earth.De præparato habitaculo suo / respexit super omnes qui habitant terram: 15He who hath made the hearts of every one of them: who understandeth all their works. Who made their hartes seuerally: who vnderstandeth al their workes.qui finxit sigillatim corda eorum; / qui intelligit omnia opera eorum. 16The king is not saved by a great army: nor shall the giant be saved by his own great strength. The king is not saued by much powre: and the gyant shal not be saued in the multitude of his strength.

17Vain is the horse for safety: neither shall he be saved by the abundance of his strength. The horse fayleth to safetie, and in the abundance of his force he shal not be saued. 18Behold the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear him: and on them that hope in his mercy. Behold the eies of our Lord be vpon them that feare him: and on them, that hope vpon his mercie.Ecce oculi Domini super metuentes eum, / et in eis qui sperant super misericordia ejus: 19To deliver their souls from death; and feed them in famine. That he may deliuer their soules from death: and nourish them in famine.ut eruat a morte animas eorum, / et alat eos in fame. 20Our soul waiteth for the Lord: for he is our helper and protector.L'anima nostra aspetta in pazienza il Signore, perché egli è nostro aiuto, e protettore. Our soule expecteth our Lord: because he is our helper and protector. Because in him our hart shal reioyce:Anima nostra sustinet Dominum, / quoniam adjutor et protector noster est. 21For in him our heart shall rejoice: and in his holy name we have trusted.Perché in lui si rallegrerà il nostro cuore, e nel nome santo di lui porrem nostra speranza.and we haue trusted in his holie name.Quia in eo lætabitur cor nostrum, / et in nomine sancto ejus speravimus. 22Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we have hoped in thee. Let thy mercie ô Lord be made vpon vs: as we haue hoped in thee.Fiat misericordia tua, Domine, super nos, / quemadmodum speravimus in te.
