Christ heals the withered hand. He chooses the twelve. He confutes the blasphemy of the Pharisees.

1And he entered again into the synagogue: and there was a man there who had a withered hand.E di nuovo entrò nella sinagoga: ed eravi un uomo, che aveva una mano inaridita.AND he entred againe into the Synagogue, and there vvas a man there that had a vvithered hand.Et introivit iterum in synagogam: et erat ibi homo habens manum aridam. 2And they watched him whether he would heal on the sabbath days, that they might accuse him.E stavano a vedere, se egli lo sanasse in giorno di sabato, per accusarlo. And they vvatched him vvhether he vvould cure on the Sabboths: that they might accuse him. 3And he said to the man who had the withered hand: Stand up in the midst. And he saith to the man that had the vvithered hand, Rise vp into the middes.Et ait homini habenti manum aridam: Surge in medium. 4And he saith to them: Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? To save life, or to destroy? But they held their peace.E a coloro disse: E egli lecito di fare del bene, o del male in giorno di sabato? di salvare, o di torre la vita? Ma quelli tacevano. And he saith to them, Is it lavvful on the Sabboths to doe vvel or il? to saue a soule, or to destroy? but they held their peace.Et dicit eis: Licet sabbatis benefacere, an male ? animam salvam facere, an perdere ? At illi tacebant. 5And looking round about on them with anger, being grieved for the blindness of their hearts, he saith to the man: Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth: and his hand was restored unto him.E girati gli occhi sopra di essi con ira, deplorando la cecità de' cuori loro, disse a colui: Stendi la tua mano. And looking round about vpon them vvith anger, being sorovvful for the blindenes of their hart, he saith to the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth: and his hand vvas restored vnto him.Et circumspiciens eos cum ira, contristatus super cæcitate cordis eorum, dicit homini: Extende manum tuam. Et extendit, et restituta est manus illi. 6And the Pharisees going out, immediately made a consultation with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him. And the Pharisees going forth, immediatly made a consultation vvith the Herodians against him hovv they might destroy him.

7But Jesus retired with his disciples to the sea; and a great multitude followed him from Galilee and Judea,E Gesù si appartò co' suoi discepoli verso il mare: e una gran turba di popolo lo seguitò dalla Galilea, e dalla Giudea,But IESVS vvith his Disciples retired to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee and Ievvrie folovved him,Jesus autem cum discipulis suis secessit ad mare: et multa turba a Galilæa et Judæa secuta est eum, 8And from Jerusalem, and from Idumea and from beyond the Jordan. And they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing the things which he did, came to him.E da Gerusalemme, e dall'Idumea, dalle terre di là dal Giordano: e quelli delle vicinanze di Tiro, e di Sidone, udito avendo le cose, che faceva, andaron da lui in gran folla.and from Hierusalem, and from Idumaea, and beyond Iordan. And they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing the things vvhich he did, came to him.et ab Jerosolymis, et ab Idumæa, et trans Jordanem: et qui circa Tyrum et Sidonem multitudo magna, audientes quæ faciebat, venerunt ad eum. 9And he spoke to his disciples that a small ship should wait on him, because of the multitude, lest they should throng him. And he spake to his Disciples that a boate might attend on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.Et dicit discipulis suis ut navicula sibi deserviret propter turbam, ne comprimerent eum: 10For he healed many, so that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had evils.Imperocché rendeva la sanità a limiti; onde tutti quelli, che erano afflitti da qualche malore, se gli scagliavano addosso per toccarlo.for he healed many, so that there preased in vpon him for to touch him, as many as had hurtes.multos enim sanabat, ita ut irruerent in eum ut illum tangerent, quotquot habebant plagas. 11And the unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him: and they cried, saying:E gli spiriti immondi, quando lo vedevano, se gli inginocchiavano, e gridavano, dicendo:And the vncleane spirites, vvhen they savv him, fel dovvne vnto him: and they cryed saying,Et spiritus immundi, cum illum videbant, procidebant ei: et clamabant, dicentes: 12Thou art the Son of God. And he strictly charged them that they should not make him known.Tu se' il Figliuolo di Dio. E faceva loro gravi minacce, perché nol manifestassero.Thou art the sonne of God. And he vehemently charged them that they should not disclose him.Tu es Filius Dei. Et vehementer comminabatur eis ne manifestarent illum.

13And going up into a mountain, he called unto him whom he would himself: and they came to him.E salito sopra un monte, chiamò a se quelli, che egli volle: e si accostarono a lui.And ascending into a mountaine, he called vnto him vvhom he vvould him self: and they came to him. 14And he made that twelve should be with him, and that he might send them to preach.E scelse dodici, perché si stesser con esso lui: e per mandargli a predicare. And he made that tvvelue should be vvith him, and that he might send them to preach. 15And he gave them power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils.E dette ad essi podestà di curare le malattìe, e di cacciare i demonj. And he gaue them povver to cure infirmities, and to cast out diuels.Et dedit illis potestatem curandi infirmitates et ejiciendi dæmonia. 16And to Simon he gave the name Peter:Simone, cui pose il soprannome di Pietro:And he gaue to Simon the name Peter.Et imposuit Simoni nomen Petrus: 17And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he named them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder.E Giacomo figliuolo di Zebedeo, e Giovanni fratello di Giacomo: e pose ad essi il soprannome di boanerges, cioè, figliuoli del tuono:and Iames of Zebedee, and Iohn the brother of Iames: and he called their names, Boanerges, vvhich is, the sonnes of thunder.et Jacobum Zebedæi, et Joannem fratrem Jacobi, et imposuit eis nomina Boanerges, quod est, Filii tonitrui: 18And Andrew and Philip, and Bartholomew and Matthew, and Thomas and James of Alpheus, and Thaddeus and Simon the Cananean:E Andrea, e Filippo, e Bartolomeo, e Matteo, e Tomaso, e Giacomo figliuolo d'Alfeo, e Taddeo, e Simon Cananeo, and Andrevv and Philippe, and Bartlemevv and Matthevv, and Thomas and Iames of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus and Simon Cananaeus,et Andræam, et Philippum, et Bartholomæum, et Matthæum, et Thomam, et Jacobum Alphæi, et Thaddæum, et Simonem Cananæum, 19And Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.E Giuda Iscariote, che fu quegli, lo tradì.and Iudas Iscariote, vvho also betrayed him.et Judas Iscariotem, qui et tradidit illum. 20And they come to a house, and the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.E andarono in casa, e si radunarono di bel nuovo le turbe; dimodoché non potevano nemmeno prender cibo. And they come to a house: and the multitude resorteth together againe, so that they could not so much as eate bread.

21And when his friends had heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him. For they said: He is become mad.E avendo saputo tali cose i suoi, andarono per pigliarlo; imperocché dicevano: Ha dato in pazzia. And vvhen his had heard of it, they vvent forth to lay hands on him. for they said, That he vvas become mad. 22And the scribes who were come down from Jerusalem, said: He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of devils he casteth out devils.E gli Scribi, che erano venuti da Gerusalemme, dicevano: Egli ha Beelzeebub, e discaccia i demonj in virtù del principe de' demonj. And the Scribes vvhich vvere come dovvne from Hierusalem, said, That he hath Beelzebub: and that in the prince of deuils he casteth out deuils. 23And after he had called them together, he said to them in parables: How can Satan cast out Satan? And after he had called them together, he said to them in parables, Hovv can Satan cast out Satan?Et convocatis eis in parabolis dicebat illis: Quomodo potest Satanas Satanam ejicere ? 24And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.E se un regno in contrarj partiti dividesi, non può un tal regno sussistere. And if a kingdom be deuided against it self, that kingdom can not stand. And if a house be deuided against it self, that house can not stand. 26And if Satan be risen up against himself, he is divided, and cannot stand, but hath an end.E se Satana si è rivoltato, e si è messo in discordia contro se stesso, non potrà sussistere; ma sta per finire. And if Satan be risen against him self, he is deuided, and can not stand, but hath an end. 27No man can enter into the house of a strong man and rob him of his goods, unless he first bind the strong man, and then shall he plunder his house. No body can rifle the vessel of the strong, being entred into his house, vnles he first binde the strong, and then shal he rifle his house.Nemo potest vasa fortis ingressus in domum diripere, nisi prius fortem alliget, et tunc domum ejus diripiet.

28Amen I say to you that all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and the blasphemies wherewith they shall blaspheme:In verità vi dico, che saranno rimessi a' figliuoli degli uomini tutti i peccati, e qualunque bestemmia, che abbiano profferita:Amen I say to you, that al sinnes shal be forgiuen the sonnes of men, and the blasphemies wherevvith they shal blaspheme.Amen dico vobis, quoniam omnia dimittentur filiis hominum peccata, et blasphemiæ quibus blasphemaverint: 29But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin. But he that shal blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, he hath not forgiuenesse for euer, but shal be guilty of an eternal sinne.qui autem blasphemaverit in Spiritum Sanctum, non habebit remissionem in æternum, sed reus erit æterni delicti. 30Because they said: He hath an unclean spirit. Because they said, He hath an vncleane spirit.Quoniam dicebant: Spiritum immundum habet. 31And his mother and his brethren came; and standing without, sent unto him, calling him.E venne la madre, e i fratelli di lui, e stando fuori, mandarono a chiamarlo:And there come his mother and brethren: and standing vvithout they sent vnto him calling him,Et veniunt mater ejus et fratres: et foris stantes miserunt ad eum vocantes eum, 32And the multitude sat about him; and they say to him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.E sedeva intorno a lui molta gente, e gli dissero: Ecco che la tua madre, e i tuoi fratelli là fuori cercan di te.and the multitude sate about him: and they say to him, Behold thy mother and thy brethren vvithout seeke thee.et sedebat circa eum turba: et dicunt ei: Ecce mater tua et fratres tui foris quærunt te. 33And answering them, he said: Who is my mother and my brethren? And ansvvering them, he said, Who is my mother and my brethren?Et respondens eis, ait: Quæ est mater mea et fratres mei ? 34And looking round about on them who sat about him, he saith: Behold my mother and my brethren.E girali gli occhi sopra coloro, che sedevangli attorno: Ecco, disse, la madre mia, e i miei fratelli. And looking about vpon them vvhich sate round about him, he saith, Behold my mother and my brethren. 35For whosoever shall do the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother. For vvhosoeuer shal doe the vvil of God, he is my brother and my sister and mother.
