1And again he entered into Capharnaum after some days.E alcuni giorni dopo entrò nuovamente in Cafarnaum.AND againe he entred into Capharnaum after some daies, and it vvas heard that he vvas in the house,Et iterum intravit Capharnaum post dies, 2And it was heard that he was in the house. And many came together, so that there was no room: no, not even at the door. And he spoke to them the word.E si riseppe, ch'egli era nella casa, e si radunò molta gente; dimodoché non capivano nemmeno nello spazio d'intorno alla porta: e predicava loro la parola.and many came together, so that there vvas no place no not at the doore, and he spake to them the vvord.et auditum est quod in domo esset, et convenerunt multi, ita ut non caperet neque ad januam, et loquebatur eis verbum. 3And they came to him, bringing one sick of the palsy, who was carried by four.E venner da lui alcuni, che conducevano un paralitico portato da quattro persone. And they came to him bringing one sicke of the palsey, vvho vvas caried of foure. 4And when they could not offer him unto him for the multitude, they uncovered the roof where he was: and opening it, they let down the bed wherein the man sick of the palsy lay.E non potendo presentarglielo per la folla, scoprirono il palco dalla parte, dov'egli stava: e fatta un'apertura, calarono il lettuccio, nel quale giaceva il paralitico. And vvhen they could not offer him vnto him for the multitude, they • vncouered the roofe vvhere he vvas: and opening it they did let dovvne the couche vvherein the sicke of the palsey lay. 5And when Jesus had seen their faith, he saith to the sick of the palsy: Son, thy sins are forgiven thee.E Gesù veduta la loro fede, disse al paralitico: Figliuolo, ti son rimessi i tuoi peccati. And vvhen IESVS had seen their faith, he saith to the • sicke of the palsey, Sonne, • thy sinnes are forgiuen thee. 6And there were some of the scribes sitting there and thinking in their hearts:Eran ivi a sedere alcuni degli Scribi, i quali andavano discorrendo in cuor loro:And there vvere certaine of the Scribes sitting there and thinking in their hartes,Erant autem illic quidam de scribis sedentes, et cogitantes in cordibus suis: 7Why doth this man speak thus? He blasphemeth. Who can forgive sins, but God only?Perché così parla costui? egli bestemmia. Chi può perdonare i peccati, fuorichè il solo Dio?why doth he speake so? he blasphemeth. Who can forgiue sinnes but only God?Quid hic sic loquitur ? blasphemat. Quis potest dimittere peccata, nisi solus Deus ?

8Which Jesus presently knowing in his spirit that they so thought within themselves, saith to them: Why think you these things in your hearts? Which by and by IESVS knovving in his spirit, that they so thought vvithin them selues, saith to them, why thinke you these things in your hartes?Quo statim cognito Jesus spiritu suo, quia sic cogitarent intra se, dicit illis: Quid ista cogitatis in cordibus vestris ? 9Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy: Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say: Arise, take up thy bed and walk? Whether is easier, to say to the sicke of the palsey, Thy sinnes are forgiuen thee: or to say, Arise, take vp thy couche, and vvalke?Quid est facilius dicere paralytico: Dimittuntur tibi peccata tua: an dicere: Surge, tolle grabatum tuum, et ambula ? 10But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy):Or affinchè voi sappiate, che il Figliuol dell'uomo ha potestà in terra di rimettere i peccati, (disse al paralitico):But that you may knovv that • the Sonne of man hath povver • in earth to forgiue sinnes (he saith to the sicke of the palsey)Ut autem sciatis quia Filius hominis habet potestatem in terra dimittendi peccata (ait paralytico), 11I say to thee: Arise. Take up thy bed and go into thy house.Dico a te: Sorgi, prendi il tuo letticciuolo, e vattene a casa tua.I say to thee, Arise, take vp thy couche, and goe into thy house.tibi dico: Surge, tolle grabatum tuum, et vade in domum tuam. 12And immediately he arose and, taking up his bed, went his way in the sight of all: so that all wondered and glorified God, saying: We never saw the like.E immantinenti quegli si alzò: e preso il suo letticciuolo a vista di tutti, se ne andò; talmente che tutti restarono stupefatti, e glorificaron Dio, dicendo: Non mai abbiam visto simil cosa. And forthvvith he arose: and taking vp his couche, vvent his vvay in the sight of al, so that al marueled, and glorified God, saying, That vve neuer savv the like. 13And he went forth again to the sea side: and all the multitude came to him. And he taught them. And he vvent forth againe to the sea: and al the multitude came to him, and he taught them.

14And when he was passing by, he saw Levi, the son of Alpheus, sitting at the receipt of custom; and he saith to him: Follow me. And rising up, he followed him.E in passando vide Levi figliuolo d'Alfeo, che sedeva al banco, e gli disse: Seguimi. Ed egli alzatosi lo seguitò.And vvhen he passed by, he savv Leui of Alphaeus sitting at the custome place: and he saith to him, Folovv me. And rising vp he folovved him. 15And it came to pass as he sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat down together with Jesus and his disciples. For they were many, who also followed him.E avvenne, che, essendo egli a tavola nella casa di lui, molti pubblicani, e peccatori erano a mensa con Gesù, e con i suoi discepoli: imperocché molti (di quelli) v'erano, che lo seguivano. And it came to passe, as he sate at meate in his house, many Publicans and sinners did sit dovvne together vvith IESVS and his Disciples. for they vvere many, vvho also folovved him. 16And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with publicans and sinners, said to his disciples: Why doth your master eat and drink with publicans and sinners? And the Scribes and the Pharisees seeing that he did eate vvith Publicans and Sinners, said to his Disciples, why doth your Maister eate and drinke vvith Publicans and sinners?Et scribæ et pharisæi videntes quia manducaret cum publicanis et peccatoribus, dicebant discipulis ejus: Quare cum publicanis et peccatoribus manducat et bibit Magister vester ? 17Jesus hearing this, saith to them: They that are well have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. For I came not to call the just, but sinners.Il che avendo udito Gesù, disse loro: Non han bisogno del medico i sani, ma i malati: imperocché non son venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori.IESVS hearing this, saith to them, The vvhole haue not neede of a Physicion, but they that are il at ease. for I came not to call the iust, but sinners. 18And the disciples of John and the Pharisees used to fast. And they come and say to him: Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast; but thy disciples do not fast?E i discepoli di Giovanni, e i Farisei facevano de' digiuni: vanno adunque, e dicono a lui: Per qual motivo i discepoli di Giovanni, e de' Farisei digiunano; e i tuoi discepoli non digiunano? And the disciples of Iohn and the Pharisees did vse to fast: and they come, and say to him, Why do the disciples of Iohn and of the Pharisees fast: but thy disciples do not fast?

19And Jesus saith to them: Can the children of the marriage fast, as long as the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.E Gesù disse loro: possono forse i compagni dello sposo digiunare, fino a tanto che lo sposo è con essi? And IESVS said to them, why, can the children of the mariage fast, as long as the bridegrome is vvith them? So long time as they haue the bridegrome vvith them, they can not fast. 20But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them: and then they shall fast in those days. But the daies vvil come vvhen the bridegrome shal be taken avvay from them: and then they shal fast in those daies. 21No man seweth a piece of raw cloth to an old garment: otherwise the new piecing taketh away from the old, and there is made a greater rent. No body sovveth a peece of ravv cloth to an old garment: othervvise he taketh avvay the nevv peecing from the old, and there is made a greater rent.Nemo assumentum panni rudis assuit vestimento veteri: alioquin aufert supplementum novum a veteri, et major scissura fit. 22And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: otherwise the wine will burst the bottles, and both the wine will be spilled and the bottles will be lost. But new wine must be put into new bottles.E nissuno mette il vino nuovo in otri vecchi: altrimenti il vino rompe gli otri, e il vino si versa, e gli otri vanno in malora; ma il vino nuovo va messo in otri nuovi. And no body putteth nevv vvine into old bottels: othervvise the vvine bursteth the bottels, and the vvine vvil be shed, and the bottels vvil be lost. but nevv vvine must be put into nevv bottels. 23And it came to pass again, as the Lord walked through the corn fields on the sabbath, that his disciples began to go forward and to pluck the ears of corn. And it came to passe againe vvhen he vvalked through the corne on the Sabboths, and his Disciples began to goe forvvard and to plucke the eares.

24And the Pharisees said to him: Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?E i Farisei dicevano a lui: Ecco, perchè fanno eglino in giorno di sabato quello, che non è lecito? And the Pharisees said to him, Behold, vvhy do they on the Sabboths that vvhich is not lavvful?Pharisæi autem dicebant ei: Ecce, quid faciunt sabbatis quod non licet ? 25And he said to them: Have you never read what David did when he had need and was hungry, himself and they that were with him? And he said to them, Did you neuer read vvhat Dauid did, vvhen he vvas • in necessitie, and him selfEt ait illis: Numquam legistis quid fecerit David, quando necessitatem habuit, et esuriit ipse, et qui cum eo erant ? 26How he went into the house of God, under Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the loaves of proposition, which was not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave to them who were with him?Come entrò nella casa di Dio, essendo sommo sacerdote Abiatar, e mangiò i pani della proposizione, de' quali non era lecito mangiare, se non a' soli sacerdoti, e ne dette a' suoi compagni?vvas an hungred and they that vvere vvith him? hovv he entred into the house of God vnder Abiathar the high Priest, and did eare the loaues of Proposition, vvhich it vvas not lavvful to eate but for the Priests, and did giue vnto them vvhich vvere vvith him?quomodo introibit in domum Dei sub Abiathar principe sacerdotum, et panes propositionis manducavit, quos non licebat manducare, nisi sacerdotibus, et dedit eis qui cum eo erant ? 27And he said to them: The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.E disse loro: Il sabato è stato fatto per l'uomo, e non l'uomo pel sabato. And he said to them, The Sabboth vvas made for man, and not man for the Sabboth. 28Therefore the Son of man is Lord of the sabbath also.E adunque il Figliuolo dell'uomo padrone anche del sabato.Therfore the sonne of man is Lord of the Sabboth also.Itaque Dominus est Filius hominis, etiam sabbati.
