Christ manifests himself to his disciples by the sea side and gives Peter the charge of his sheep.

1After this, Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he shewed himself after this manner. E si manifestò in questo modo:AFTER IESVS manifested him self againe at the sea of Tibérias. And he manifested thus:Postea manifestavit se iterum Jesus discipulis ad mare Tiberiadis. Manifestavit autem sic: 2There were together: Simon Peter and Thomas, who is called Didymus, and Nathanael, who was of Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee and two others of his disciples. There vvere together Simon Peter and Thomas vvho is called Didymus, and Nathanael vvhich vvas of Cana in Galilee, and the sonnes of Zebedee, and tvvo others of his disciples.erant simul Simon Petrus, et Thomas, qui dicitur Didymus, et Nathanaël, qui erat a Cana Galilææ, et filii Zebedæi, et alii ex discipulis ejus duo. 3Simon Peter saith to them: I go a fishing. They say to him: We also come with thee. And they went forth and entered into the ship: and that night they caught nothing. Simon Peter saith to them, I goe to fish. They say to him, Vve also come vvith thee. And they vvent forth and got vp into the boate: and that night they tooke nothing.Dicit eis Simon Petrus: Vado piscari. Dicunt ei: Venimus et nos tecum. Et exierunt, et ascenderunt in navim: et illa nocte nihil prendiderunt. 4But when the morning was come, Jesus stood on the shore: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.E fattosi giorno Gesù si pose sul lido: i discepoli però non conobbero, che fosse Gesù.But vvhen morning vvas novv come, IESVS stoode on the shore: yet the disciples knevv not that it vvas IESVS.Mane autem facto stetit Jesus in littore: non tamen cognoverunt discipuli quia Jesus est. 5Jesus therefore said to them: Children, have you any meat? They answered him: No.Disse adunque loro Gesù: figliuoli, avete voi companatico? Gli risposer di no.IESVS therfore saith to them, Childrē, haue you any meate? They ansvvered him, No.Dixit ergo eis Jesus: Pueri, numquid pulmentarium habetis ? Responderunt ei: Non. 6He saith to them: Cast the net on the right side of the ship; and you shall find. They cast therefore: and now they were not able to draw it, for the multitude of fishes. He saith to them, Cast the nette on the right side of the boate: and you shal finde. They therfore did cast it: and novv they vvere not able to dravv it for the multitude of fishes.

7That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved said to Peter: It is the Lord. Simon Peter, when he heard that it was the Lord, girt his coat about him (for he was naked) and cast himself into the sea. That disciple therfore vvhom IESVS loued, saith to Peter, It is our Lord. Simon Peter vvhē he had heard that it is our Lord: girded his coate vnto him (for he vvas naked) and cast him self into the sea. 8But the other disciples came in the ship (for they were not far from the land, but as it were two hundred cubits) dragging the net with fishes.E gli altri discepoli si avanzarono colla barca (imperocché non erano lungi da terra, ma circa a dugento cubiti), e tiravan la rete co' pesci. But the other disciples came in the boate (for they vvere not farre from the land, but as it vvere tvvo hundred cubits) dravving the nette of fishes. 9As soon then as they came to land they saw hot coals lying, and a fish laid thereon, and bread.E quando furon a terra, videro preparato il carbone (sul qual era stato messo del pesce), e del pane. Therefore after they came dovvne to land, they savv hote coles lying, and fish laid thereon, and bread. 10Jesus saith to them: Bring hither of the fishes which you have now caught.Disse loro Gesù: date qua de' pesci, che avete presi adesso.IESVS saith to them, Bring hither of the fishes that you tooke novv.Dicit eis Jesus: Afferte de piscibus, quos prendidistis nunc. 11Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, one hundred and fifty-three. And although there were so many, the net was not broken. Simō Peter vvent vp, and drevv the nette to the land, ful of great fishes, an hundred fiftie three. And although they vvere so many, the nette vvas not broken.

12Jesus saith to them: Come and dine. And none of them who were at meat, durst ask him: Who art thou? Knowing that it was the Lord.Disse loro Gesù: su via desinate. Nissuno però de' discepoli ebbe ardire di domandargli: chi sei tu? sapendo che era il Signore.IESVS saith to them, Come, dine. And none of them that sate at meate', durst aske him, Vvho art thou? knovving that it is our Lord.Dicit eis Jesus: Venite, prandete. 13And Jesus cometh and taketh bread and giveth them: and fish in like manner. And IESVS commeth and taketh the bread and giueth them, and the fish in like maner.Et venit Jesus, et accipit panem, et dat eis, et piscem similiter. 14This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to his disciples, after he was risen from the dead. This novv the third time IESVS vvas manifested to his disciples, after he vvas risen from the dead. 15When therefore they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me more than these? He saith to him: Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs.E quando ebber pranzato, disse Gesù a Simon Pietro: Simone, figliuolo di Giovanni, mi ami tu più, che questi? Dissegli: pasci i miei agnelli.Therfore vvhen they had dined, IESVS saith to Simon Peter, Simon of Iohn, louest thou me more then these? He saith to him, Yea Lord: thou knovvest that I loue thee. he saith to him, FEEDE MY LAMBES.Cum ergo prandissent, dicit Simoni Petro Jesus: Simon Joannis, diligis me plus his ? Dicit ei: Etiam Domine, tu scis quia amo te. Dicit ei: Pasce agnos meos. 16He saith to him again: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? He saith to him: yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him: Feed my lambs. Dissegli: pasci i miei agnelli. He saith to him againe, Simon of Iohn, louest thou me? he saith to him, Yea Lord, thou knovvest that I loue thee. He saith to him, FEEDE MY LAMBES.Dicit ei iterum: Simon Joannis, diligis me ? Ait illi: Etiam Domine, tu scis quia amo te. Dicit ei: Pasce agnos meos.

17He said to him the third time: Simon, son of John, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he had said to him the third time: Lovest thou me? And he said to him: Lord, thou knowest all things: thou knowest that I love thee. He said to him: Feed my sheep. He saith to him the third time, Simō of Iohn, louest thou me? Peter vvas stroken sad, because he said vnto him the third time, Louest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knovvest al things: thou knovvest that I loue thee. He saith to him, FEEDE MY SHEEPE.Dicit ei tertio: Simon Joannis, amas me ? Contristatus est Petrus, quia dixit ei tertio: Amas me ? et dixit ei: Domine, tu omnia nosti, tu scis quia amo te. Dixit ei: Pasce oves meas. 18Amen, amen, I say to thee, When thou wast younger, thou didst gird thyself and didst walk where thou wouldst. But when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee and lead thee whither thou wouldst not. Amē, amen I say to thee, vvhen thou vvast yonger, thou didst girde thy self, and didst vvalke vvhere thou vvouldest. but vvhen thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy handes, and an other shal girde thee, and leade thee vvhither thou vvilt not. 19And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me.Or questo lo disse, indicando con qual morte fosse per glorificare Dio. E dopo di ciò gli disse: seguimi. And this he said, signifying by vvhat death he should glorifie God. And vvhen he had said this, he saith to him, Folovv me.Hoc autem dixit significans qua morte clarificaturus esset Deum. Et cum hoc dixisset, dicit ei: Sequere me. 20Peter turning about, saw that disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned on his breast at supper and said: Lord, who is he that shall betray thee?Pietro voltatosi indietro vide, che gli andava appresso quel discepolo amato da Gesù (il quale anche nella cena posò sul petto di lui, e disse: Signore, chi è colui, che ti tradirà?)Peter turning, savv that disciple vvhom IESVS loued, folovving, vvho also leaned at the supper vpon his breast, and said, Lord vvho is he that shal betray thee?

21Him therefore when Peter had seen, he saith to Jesus: Lord, and what shall this man do?Pietro adunque avendolo veduto, disse a Gesù: Signore, e di questo che sarà?Him therfore vvhen Peter had seen, he saith to IESVS, Lord, and this man vvhat?Hunc ergo cum vidisset Petrus, dixit Jesu: Domine, hic autem quid ? 22Jesus saith to him: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? Tu seguimi,IESVS saith to him, So I vvil haue him to remaine til I come, vvhat to thee? folovv thou me.Dicit ei Jesus: Sic eum volo manere donec veniam, quid ad te ? tu me sequere. 23This saying therefore went abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die. And Jesus did not say to him: He should not die; but: So I will have him to remain till I come, what is it to thee? This saying therfore vvent abrode among the brethren, that that disciple dieth not. And IESVS did not say to him, he dieth not: but, So I vvil haue him to remaine til I come, vvhat to thee? Et non dixit ei Jesus: Non moritur, sed: Sic eum volo manere donec veniam, quid ad te ? 24This is that disciple who giveth testimony of these things and hath written these things: and we know that his testimony is true. This is that disciple vvhich giueth testimonie of these things, and hath vvritten these things: and vve knovv that his testimonie is true. 25But there are also many other things which Jesus did which, if they were written every one, the world itself. I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written. But there are many other things also vvhich IESVS did: vvhich if they vvere vvritten in particular, neither the vvorld it self I thinke vvere able to conteine those bookes that should be vvritten.
